Nepalese: Taste of Everest

Taste of Everest
Murray (Curry) Hill
102 Lexington Avenue
b/t 27th & 28th Streets

Mutter Panner: Himalayan cheese cubes cooked in a light sauce with green peas and spices
A delicious dish with a nice variety of textures and flavors - GET IT

Gobi Manchurian: Cauliflower has crispy florets tossed in spicy sweet and Manchurian sauce
More of an Indian dish than Nepalese, but was really in the mood for it.  A great sweet (and very spicy) coating on the crispy cauliflower - GET IT

Daal Bhaat Tarkari: A traditional Nepalese vegetarian platter combining rice, lentil and mixed vegetable curry, stir fried spinach and tomato achar
This is a great way to taste a lot of different dishes, in smaller sizes. Similar to an Indian thali. - GET IT

Chicken momo: Minced chicken wrapped in pastry, steam cooked and served with tomato and sesame seed achar
Very similar to a Chinese chicken dumplings, but slightly different flavor. They were tasty, but not the highlight of the meal. - FORGET IT

Roti: Whole wheat flour bread, freshly baked in a clay oven
Great for dipping and scooping up a lot of these dishes - GET IT

Albanian: Çka ka Qëllue

Çka ka Qëllue
Murray Hill
118 East 31st Street
b/t Lexington & Park Avenues

Çka ka Qëllue just opened in a kind of random location, but it's a welcomed, new addition to the neighborhood! It may not be the prettiest food, but it was definitely delicious.

(Clockwise)

Speca Me Mäze - Roasted peppers in cream
This is a really popular Albanian dish, but I didn't love the flavor. It was really overwhelming. - FORGET IT

Flia - Savory crepe layered with cream and yogurt served with feta cheese
I've had savory crepes before, but this one was baked on a grill, giving it really delicious charred spots. It was my favorite dish of the meal. - GET IT

Leçenik - Cornbread filled with spinach and cottage cheese, served with sour cream
This was really good, so flavorful and moist - GET IT

Freshly-baked homemade pita - GET IT

Tava Kosi - Bone-in lamb and polenta baked in a clay pot
The meat was flavorful and tender, and fell right off the bone. Only downside was the small portion size. - GET IT
